Anatomy of an image
Here is an example of what I'd call alternative portraiture. To me this is a neon encrusted VanDyke or Hals... Some wealthy alternative 16th century nether-land-ish burgher in his ruffed collar, the insectoid glow of infrared and ultraviolet. Bold and self confident he looks directly at the viewer... and the look: is it menace, sadness, wisdom? or contempt?
In practical terms: The foreground is a mirrored and modified (bulge and dent, thermal and sharp ) George Condo. The background and frame is a Kehinde Wiley, (mirrored and saturated)

A good example of what I try to do in a collaged work: 1 + 1 = 3 Meaning the foreground and background become something more than the sum of their separate parts.
