First Work

First Work

Really the first photo I took that kindled the desire to continue taking the pictures I want to take.
Almost hate to post it as the image quality is poor... Was printed sometime in 2005 then left in a pile with other early tries .... then badly scanned five years later.  So not where I'm at right now.

Rusty garage door found in Penang, Malaysia.   What I loved at the time:  The pollack like splatters, curves, rust and old paint... The fragment of words: no parking, scrawled across the lower third. A drizzle of color and movement, the hints of form a viewer will start to impose on the random.  That this section of a metal door is a product of history, entropy, chance.  That any beauty or otherness is imposed by the viewer or overlooked completely.

No parking
